Disc 4
13. The Long Con
Flashbacks: Sawyer is busted on a con by Cassidy, a woman who wants to learn how to do it. Together, they con some boys at a petrol station with fake jewellery. She soon wants to do a big con, "the long con", revealing she had a big divorce settlement. Gordy had set them up to get this money, but Sawyer backs out. He calls him James. Sawyer comes clean to Cassie and sends her off with the bag of money, saying she was the long con, but he now loves her. After she leaves, he returns to the house for the real bag.
Jack takes back pills Sawyer had stolen back from the hatch. Kate reads to Sawyer, since he lost his glasses on the raft. He tells her about Jack & Ana's army plans.
Hurley finds a short-wave radio and gives it to Sayid. After dismissing it, he later uses it to get a signal. They find radio station GXR.
Sun is suddenly dragged away from her garden. Kate and Sawyer hear her and find her alone, unconscious, hands tied. Ana says they're back. John says they promised to leave them alone. Jack wants to go on the offensive. Sawyer tells Kate he's suspicious that she escaped, and they find her kidnap hood. Sawyer points out it's different to the one they used on Kate, it's all in the details. She suspects Ana, and tells Jack. Jack asks Ana as Sun wakes up. Jin asks for a gun. Kate suspects Ana just wants the guns so sends Sawyer to warn John. John agrees, if Sawyer mans the computer. Jin and Jack arrive... No Locke, no guns. Sawyer gives Jack the pills. Jack confronts John on the beach in front of everyone. John refuses but Sawyer reveals he has them, and if they want them, they must come to him. Kate asks him how he did it, and if he took Sun. He says he didn't. She says he just wants people to hate him. He tells her "you run, I con". We discover Charlie and Sawyer planned it together to humiliate John.
14. One Of Them
Flashbacks: Sayid is detained by US forces during the war, forced to translate his commander Tariq's interrogation. He is shown a video of Tariq using sarin gas. The man says that he believes Sayid to be loyal, but only with reason. He must convince Tariq to talk. When Tariq orders him to kill himself rather than give up relatively unimportant information, he pull out his tools. He comes out covered in blood, but with the information. He is released and told he now has a new skill set. Sayid insists he would never do that again. The man tells him if he ever needs information, he now knows how to get it. In Sayid's own language.
Sawyer can't sleep because of a noisy frog. He finds Hurley bingeing on ranch dressing. He starts to help Sawyer find the frog, but gets tired of Sawyer's weight jokes. He apologises, and they find the tiny frog. Hurley offers to take it two beaches away, but Sawyer squashes it in his hand.
Ana and Sayid find Rousseau, who was looking for Sayid. She leads to a net, containing a man. He says he is Henry Gale from Minnesota. She says he's lying, and is "one of them". As he escapes, she shoots him with an arrow. She tells him to take him to their doctor, he's no good to them dead. But will lie. For a very long time. Sayid wakes John and takes him to Henry. He tells them he and his wife crashed in a balloon as they crossed the Pacific. She died three weeks ago in a cave. Jack arrives. Sayid tells him about Rousseau's warning. Jack removes the arrow, but doesn't untie him. Sayid asks John to change the armoury code while Jack is distracted. They move Henry to the armoury and Sayid locks himself in. Jack asks Locke if he changed the code. Locke says they're at war, and need information. Sayid tells him his name, and that he's a torturer. Jack notices the pliers are missing. Henry details his wife Jennifer's sickness, their balloon, his wealth, but when he falters on details of his wife's burial, Sayid throws the pliers aside and beats him. The alarm goes off, Jack holds John back until there are less than 30 seconds left. Locke caves and opens the door, but enters the code after 0, which starts to read heiroglyphics instead of numbers. Once the code is entered, however, the clock resets. Jack pulls Sayid off, he says Henry is lying, and is one of them. Jack points out that she thought the same about Sayid. John comments it's all relative. Sayid tells Charlie how Jack and Locke will never understand as they've forgotten how they left Charlie and Claire for dead. He knows Henry was lying because he feels no remorse for what he did to him. These "others" are merciless.
15. Maternity Leave
Flashbacks: Claire's memories.
Locke wakes Jack to stop Claire bringing a fevered Aaron to the hatch, where she may discover Henry. Rousseau appears to Claire, asking if the baby is infected. Kate scares her off. Jack thinks it's roseola, relatively harmless. Claire turns to Libby, the clinical psychologist, to see if she can unblock her memories. They try meditation. She remembers Ethan as a doctor, giving her shots for the baby. Convinced they have the necessary medicine for Aaron, she convinces Kate to help. She asks Sawyer for a gun, to find Rousseau. Claire leaves the baby with Sun, then remembers having an injection and being taken to a nursery where she sees the bearded man, without a beard. Kate and Claire head out, discussing Rousseau when she appears. Claire demands she takes her, she agrees. Rousseau soon realises Claire doesn't remember enough. Claire sees a familiar branch and remembers sitting there with Ethan, who tells her they're a good family who will look after the baby, but only if it's what she wants. She leads Kate and Rousseau to a large tarpaulin. They rip it off, it's covering another hatch, bearing the Dharma hospital logo from her memories. They open it and enter the corridor within. Emergency lights are flickering. They find the nursery, now painted over, and wardrobes of raggy clothes. A bootie she'd knitted herself reminds her of a teenage girl releasing her before they could cut the baby out of her. They find the vaccine fridge, empty. Claire remembers scratching Rousseau as she was keeping her from the others. Rousseau leaves, saying she didn't find what she was looking for. Claire tells her that a teenage girl helped her, as she did. She says she hopes the baby is not infected, but if it is, she hopes she knows what must be done. Aaron is on the mend. Claire tells him she wanted then to take him, but now loves him so much.
Jack and John feed Henry. John gives him a Dostoyevsky book. He asks to be let go. Eko goes to the hatch for a saw. Jack tells Henry to be quiet while John takes him, but Eko sees the bed. Later, he asks Jack who he is, and if he can speak to him alone, threatening to blow the secret if he doesn't. They let Eko in, warning him not to tell Henry anything. Eko shakes his hand, introduces himself, and sits. He explains he is a prisoner because they are being careful, and asks for forgiveness for killing the two men who abducted him. He cuts off two pieces from his beard. John gives Henry breakfast and Henry asks why John lets the doctor call the shots. He doesn't take it well.
16. The Whole Truth
Flashbacks: Sun and Jin are trying for a baby. Jin thinks it may persuade her father to give him a safer job. Sun meets Mr. Lee at his father's hotel. He wants her to tell Jin of their English lessons. Jin & Sun seek medical fertility advice- Sun is told she has advanced endometriosis blocking her tubes. Jin is furious with her. Sun tells Lee that she was glad. He asks why she's still learning English when she's now practically fluent. She says to live in America, away from Jin. He says you should run towards something, not away. The doctor finds Sun and tells her he lied, for fear of reprisal from a man would do Jin's job. It is Jin who is sterile, not Sun.
Jin tells Sun off for returning to the garden from which she was abducted. He destroys it so she has no reason not to return to the beach. Rose and Bernard catch Sun on the verge of collapse. She refuses to go to Jin or Jack. She asks Sawyer for a pregnancy test. He gets her a Whidmore's Labs one. Just as she's about to open it, Hurley appears, looking guilty with a chocolate bar. She turns to Kate for help, and thanks her for asking no questions. It's positive, Jack says a false negative is likely, but a positive is positive. Sun is impassive. Jack suggests she tells Jin the whole truth. She finds him fixing her garden. He says he needs her, he hates fighting and not understanding anyone. She tells him she's pregnant. He's delighted, but there's something he must know. She tells him what the doctor said, but swears she has never been with another man. He calls it a miracle. She says she loves him. He says it back, in English.
Locke tells Ana about Henry, saying he wants him out of his hatch. He then informs Jack when she's in there. Ana tells Henry about the mistake she made with Nathan and Goodwin, and asks for his story. Jack gets worried at how long she's taking, and how quiet they are. Ana asks him to draw a map to the balloon and his wife's grave. He says it's difficult. She leaves him, intending to return tomorrow. She secretly gives Sayid his map, saying they both want the truth. Charlie joins them. Ana apologises for Shannon, but he says he blames the others, as they drove her to what happened.
Jack lets Henry out for breakfast. He asks all sorts of questions they can't answer and wonders why they aren't curious. He mentions the map, saying he's not surprised noone told them, given how much they argue. He then says that if he was one of the others he'd have led them into a trap. Just as well he isn't then...
